Board member

Thabo currently serves as the CEO of the thyssenkrupp Regional Office for Sub-Saharan Africa, since 2016. He qualified as a mechanical engineer from the University of Cape Town and has an MBA from GIBS – University of Pretoria.

He has more than 20 years professional experience, both operational and leadership roles, in asset-intensive heavy industries and consulting across Africa. His work experience covers organisations such as De Beers Diamond Mines, Saint-Gobain Plaster, DuPont and Black & Veatch. Through-out his professional career, he has extensively advised over 50 African organisations on risk mitigation, value maximisation and growth into Sub Saharan Africa.

In his current role he’s responsible for growing the thyssenkrupp group’s business, its brand and impact across Sub Saharan Africa. He also serves on a number of boards in South Africa in the renewable energy sector and notably for non-profit organisations focussing on STEM related topics for the youth. He’s also the local ambassador for the Africa CEO Network, an influential community of +5000 CEOs, decision makers and executives doing business in Africa.

He’s passionate about Africa, its youth and its unfolding industrialisation future.
