Potential of offshore wind energy as a power source for South Africa

The EU-SA Partners for Growth Programme requested the Energy Centre of the Council for Scientific
and Industrial Research (CSIR) to perform a preliminary assessment of the potential benefits of offshore wind (OSW) for South Africa by means of a desktop study and a limited number of interviews.

This document contains the main findings of the study and consists of an introduction followed by a discussion of four key questions and concludes with a recommendation regarding the way forward.
